How Safe Is My Data?
Bank-Level Security for Your Digital Legacy
At DigitalWill.uk, we use military-grade encryption and strict access protocols to ensure your data remains private during your lifetime and reaches only the right hands afterward.
1. End-to-End Encryption
All data stored in your Digital Vault is encrypted using AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by governments and financial institutions. This means:
- Your files are encrypted before they leave your device.
- They remain encrypted during transmission and while at rest in our secure servers.
Zero-Knowledge Architecture: We never store your passwords or decryption keys.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Required for all logins.

2. Encryption Process
- All files are encrypted locally (before upload) using AES-256 with a client-specific master key.
- The master key is split:
- Part 1: Stored in DigitalWill.uk’s HSM (Hardware Security Module).
- Part 2: Derived from the client’s password (never stored).
Result: Even DigitalWill.uk cannot access files without the client’s credentials.

3. Secure Data Centers
Your data is stored in secure, geographically distributed data centers with:
- 24/7 Monitoring: Continuous surveillance to prevent unauthorized access.
- Redundant Backups: Multiple backups to ensure data availability and prevent loss.
UK-Based Servers: Data stored in ISO 27001-certified data centers.
Regular Audits: Penetration testing by independent cybersecurity firms.

4. Access Control and Authorization
Access to your Digital Vault is strictly controlled through:
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): An additional layer of security to verify your identity.
- Role-Based Access: Only authorized individuals (e.g., you, your Executor, or Beneficiaries) can access your data.
- Verification Process: Executor must provide proof of identity and authority (e.g., a death certificate and grant of probate) to access your data after your passing.

5. Compliance with Data Protection Laws
We are committed to complying with all relevant data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means:
- Your data is processed only for the purposes you have consented to.
- You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time.
- We implement strict measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or corruption of your data.

6. Two Tiered Data Release
Executors see only folder names—not contents.
Beneficiaries receive:
View-only access (no downloads unless permitted).
Watermarked files (“For Specified Eyes Only”).
